67's Edged in High-Scoring Affair in Sarnia

OTTAWA - Despite having a 4-3 lead after 40 minutes, the Ottawa 67's started their grueling three-game-in-three-nights weekend suffering a 7-4 loss against the Sarnia Sting Friday, as the home team scored four times in the third period to remain unbeaten after three games (3W-0L)

The Sting drew first blood with two goals in a span of five minutes midway through the first period, taking a quick 2-0 lead, with Nikita Korostelev scoring the first of his three goals of the night. Just before the end of the first period, rookie forward Ben Evans scored his first OHL goal, cutting the lead in half at 2-1.

The 67's started the second period strongly, tying the game at 2-2 only four minutes into the period when Sasha Chmelevski scored his first goal of the season against his former team. Ten minutes later Ottawa took their first lead of the game when Noel Hoefenmayer got his name on the scoresheet with his first of the 2016-17 campaign with Austin Keating earning his third assist of the night. The Sting tied the game at 3-3 two minutes later through Korostelev, before seeing Drake Rymsha netting his fourth tally of the season giving his team a 4-3 lead after 40 minutes.

Sarnia once again tied the game early in the third period through Filip Helt, before taking advantage of a powerplay midway through the final frame with Adam Ruzicka beating Leo Lazarev giving the Sting the 5-4 lead. Sarnia would add two more goals, with one from Korostelev who completed his hat trick, en route to a 7-4 win.

Keating ended the game with three assists, while Patrick White picked up two. Between the pipes, Lazarev made 27 saves.

The 67's will continue their three-game road trip with a two-hour drive to the Dow Event Center, in Saginaw where they will face the Spirit tomorrow evening at 7:05 p.m.
