Ottawa 67's News Release
OTTAWA - The Ottawa 67's won their second game in as many days on Sunday afternoon at The Arena at TD Place, defeating the Peterborough Petes by a score of 4-2.
Tye Felhaber scored twice, giving him six goals in three games this weekend, while Sasha Chmelevski added a goal and an assist. Goaltender Cedrick Andree made 28 saves in the win, his 20th of the season.
Chmelevski scored the game's first goal halfway through the opening period, with a precise shot that beat goaltender Hunter Jones short side on the power play. The Petes then answered back with two goals of their own on the man advantage that came 21 seconds apart, giving them a 2-1 lead. Tye Felhaber then deked his way to his 34th goal of the season before the end of the first period, sending both teams to the locker rooms with a 2-2- tie on their hands.
Felhaber added another goal late in the second period, another power play marker for the 67's, who went 2/4 on the man advantage in the game. Felhaber's 35th of the year ended up being the game-winning goal. Merrick Rippon added the insurance goal before the end of the second period with his third of the season with a high shot from a tough angle.
Andree was solid for the Barber Poles in the final period, stopping 10 shots, ensuring his team would head home with their second-straight.
What they're saying
André Tourigny, Head Coach
''I felt like in the first period, we weren't physical enough, which can happen when you're tired, but from the second period on, we played our own game; we were physical, we were grinding their defencemen in their own zone and that's where we got our confidence and momentum from.''
Sasha Chmelevski, 67's forward
''It was a great team effort from the guys, we played a full 60 minutes just like we talked about before the game. We didn't give them any time or space to work with, which gave us a lot of success.''
Game Notes
With a two goal game on Sunday, Tye Felhaber now has 35 goals this year, 11 in his last 6 games.
With a win today, Cedrick Andree is the OHL's first goalie this season to reach 20 wins.
With a rash of injuries recently, Mitchell Hoelscher has stepped up offensively for the 67's with seven points in his last four games.
Sasha Chmelevski was great from the faceoff dot, winning 16 of his 22 faceoffs on Sunday.
