Bulldogs Wear Down Battalion for 5-1 Win

HAMILTON, ONTARIO. The Hamilton Bulldogs finished off a successful 3-game stretch by beating the North Bay Battalion 5-1 Sunday afternoon to record five out of a possible six points.

Tim Fleischer (4) got the Bulldogs on the board first scoring the only goal of the first period.

Arthur Kaliyev (23, 24) scored two power-play goals in the 2nd period to give Hamilton a 3-0 lead and then Matthew Strome (11) made it 4-0 at 8:38.

The Battalion broke the shut-out bid of Bulldogs goalie Nick Donofrio at 7:22 of the 3rd, but Matthew Strome (12) responded with his second of the game to close out the scoring at 5-1.

Arthur Kaliyev finished the weekend with 8-points, Nicolas Mattinen picked up an assist in his 200th OHL game and Brandon Saigeon extended his point streak to 8 games with two assists.

The Bulldogs have road games in Niagara and Oshawa on Thursday and Friday before returning home on Saturday December 15th to play the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the annual Teddy Bear Toss game at FristOntario Centre at 3:30 pm.
