67's Battle Battalion to 6-3 Win, Streak Without a Regulation Loss Hits 23

OTTAWA - Tye Felhaber scored three times in the third period on Sunday afternoon to lead the Ottawa 67's to a 6-3 win over the North Bay Battalion at the Arena at TD Place.

The win is Ottawa's third-straight and improves the club's record to 23 consecutive games without a regulation loss.

Mitch Hoelscher opened the scoring for Ottawa a little over five minutes into the game, pouncing on a rebound created by Cameron Tolnai's wraparound attempt. After Sasha Chmelevski's 11th of the year made it 2-0 Ottawa just 25 second later, Quinn Yule set up Hudson Wilson for the defenceman's second of the year.

North Bay would score late in the first and twice more in the second to tie the game at three heading into the third period.

The third period was the Tye Felhaber show as the 67's overager and leading scorer secured the win with a natural hat trick, the first two coming quickly before the midway mark of the period and third finding the empty net late in the game.

Cedrik Andree was sharp once again in the Ottawa goal, turning away 40 shots in the game.

The 67's return to action Friday and Saturday next week for the Battle of the Ottawa River, a home-and-home series against the Gatineau Olympiques. The first game goes Friday at 7:30 at the Robert Guertin Arena, followed by a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. at the Arena at TD Place.

Game notes:

- With 29 goals on the year, Tye Felhaber has take over the OHL goal scoring lead.

- Mitch Hoelscher also had a three-point day, with a goal and two assist.

- The 67's had a 52-24 edge in the face-off circle on Sunday.

- Both teams were 0-for-2 on the powerplay in this one.

- Felhbaer led both teams with nine shots in the game.

"We gave up shots but I'm satisfied that we kept (North Bay on the) outside as much as we could. It wasn't our best game of the year but we played well enough to win. Our team never panicked. I like the mindset of our guys, of our leaders."
