Inland Empire 66ers News Release

The 66ers (40-53, 9-14) offense was unable to solve the pitching of the Lake Elsinore Storm (53-40, 17-6) as they fell 7-1, snapping the Inland Empire's three game winning streak in front of a crowd of 2,419. 66ers second baseman Taylor Lindsey was an offensive bright spot as he went 2-for-4 on the night. Storm first baseman Tommy Medica extended his team record hit streak to 29 games.

Inland Empire got on the board early as center fielder Brennan Gowens was able to drive in Taylor Lindsey to give the 66ers a 1-0 lead in the 1stinning. Gowens now has 19 RBIs on the season. Unfortunately for Inland Empire, they would be shut out the rest of the way by the pitching of Storm starter Burch Smith. Smith earned the win to improve to 9-4.

66ers starter Fabio Martinez struggled with control as he went 4 1/3 innings, giving up five earned runs, striking out three, and walking six. Martinez took the loss to fall to 0-4 on the season. 66ers reliever Tyler Kehrer pitched two scoreless innings as he held the Storm offense to one hit and striking out three. Kehrer now has 36 strikeouts on the year.

The 66ers continue their series with the Lake Elsinore Storm tomorrow at 7:05 pm. It will be Jered Weaver Water Bottle Giveaway Night presented to the first 1,000 fans. The game can be heard on the home of 66ers baseball KCAA 1050 AM beginning with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Pre-Game show at 6:55.
