66ers Top Vipers in Record-Setting Win

HIDALGO, Texas, January 27, 2014 - Five 66ers scored 20-or-more points as the Tulsa 66ers topped the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 144-127, in Tulsa's highest-scoring performance in franchise history. The 66ers shot 56-for-92 from the field (60.9 percent), an all-time franchise high for made field goals, while distributing 30 assists.

Andre Roberson, on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, scored 20 points with 13 rebounds. Fellow 66ers Mario Little (27 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists), Rodney Bartholomew (27 points, five rebounds), Mustafa Shakur (23 points, four rebounds, eight assists, three steals) and Reggie Williams (20 points, three rebounds, eight assists) all scored 20 or more points.

The game began as a back-and-forth battle, with 10 lead changes in the first six and a half minutes. The 66ers took a 19-18 lead on a pull-up jumper from Shakur and went on to lead the remainder of the night.

Tulsa outscored the Vipers 35-29 in the opening quarter and extended their lead to 72-63 going into halftime. The 66ers scored 34 or more points in all four quarters, outscoring Rio Grande Valley 34-28 in the third and 38-36 in the fourth.

The 66ers (9-16) have scored 128 or more points in three of their last four games, averaging 125.5 points during that stretch.

Rio Grande Valley (19-7) was led by Akeem Ellis with 27 points and Troy Daniels with 26.

The 66ers have now won five of their last six road games, including five straight in their opponent's home arena (the lone loss in the streak was at the NBA D-League Showcase). Tulsa, who began the season 1-11, has won seven of its last 10.

Tulsa pulled down 48 rebounds and scored 84 of its points in the paint.

The 66ers and Vipers will face off again on Wednesday night at State Farm Arena.
