Inland Empire 66ers News Release
Lancaster, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino were one out away from securing a victory at Lancaster for the third time in two nights but could not get it locked down as Bret Boswell's tenth-inning, two-out, two-run homer gave the JetHawks an 8-7 win over the Sixers. It was Boswell's second homer of the game and the JetHawks (62-54, 29-17) fourth of the affair; Lancaster notched nine hits in the game, eight were extra-base hits.
Brandon Marsh had snapped a 0-for-15 with a third inning homer for the 66ers (59-57, 26-20) en route to a three hit game. It was Marsh's go-ahead double off Heath Holder (8-0) in the top of the tenth that put the Sixers ahead 7-6. Isaac Mattson had given the 66ers three perfect innings in the seventh through the ninth. In the tenth an automatic runner at second was the first runner aboard against him. With the runner a third and two down, Mattson's 2-0 pitch was belted to right for a two-run shot by Boswell and the game-winner. It was the lone hit against Mattson (1-1) on the night as he fanned six in 3.2IP. Alan Trejo (8) homered for Lancaster as did Vince Fernandez giving him the Cal League lead with 21 dingers.
The series concludes at Lancaster on Thursday at 6:35 pm. The contest can be heard live at 66ers.com.
