
66ers Open Stockton Series with 9-2 Decision

Stockton, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino scored in three times in three separate innings on Saturday and downed the host Stockton Ports 9-2 to open a three-game set at Banner Island Ballpark. The win was the 66ers third in four games of a six-game road swing to the Northern Division.
Inland Empire scored three runs in the first against Stockton starter Evan Manarino (3-3) and tacked on three more in the second highlighted by Connor Justus' two-run homer. It was Justus' sixth homer in 27 games with the 66ers. The 66ers capped three more runs in the seventh as Franklin Torres had an RBI single and RBI walks from David MacKinnon and DJ Jenkins. Marc Brakeman (1-0) earned the win out of the pen for Inland Empire tossing three innings and giving up one run three frames after starter Luis Madero gave up a run in four frames and fanned eight batters. Eduardo Rivera struck out five Ports (60-40, 16-14) in the final two innings as the Sixers' staff fanned a total of 15 batters. Jo Adell had three hits including a double and a walk for IE while Torres and Brandon Marsh each had a pair of hits. Marsh stole his ninth base of the season for Inland Empire (49-51, 16-14). Luke Persico had two hits including a triple and a walk for Stockton. The 66ers took eight walks in the contest.
