Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Inland Empire (32-42, 1-3) put together a banner performance at the plate Sunday night, defeating the High Desert Mavericks (40-34, 3-1) 12-8 for their first win of the second half. Every single 66ers batter in the lineup scored a run in the 66ers highest scoring game of the season.

Inland Empire center fielder Drew Heid set the offensive tone of the game as he lead off the game with a single and would be one of the main offensive catalysts of the game. The 66ers exploded for four runs in the first frame and six runs in the 5th inning. Heid finished the game going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. First baseman C.J. Cron padded his league leading RBI total adding two more dimes for 64 on the year. Left fielder Ryan Jones also had a big day going 3-for-4 with an RBI in perhaps his best performance with the 66ers so far.

The run support that 66ers starter Max Russell was more than enough for him to earn the win. Russell pitched 5 2/3 innings, giving up nine hits, six earned runs and struck out six while walking one. 66ers reliever Eric Cendejas kept the potent Mavericks offense in check going 1 1/3 innings and only giving up 2 hits.

The 66ers will welcome the Lake Elsinore Storm to San Manuel Stadium tomorrow at 7:05 pm for a 3 game set. It will be Man's Best Friend Monday as fans can enjoy the game with their dogs. The game can be heard on the home of 66ers baseball KCAA 1050 AM beginning with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Pre-Game show at 6:55.
