TULSA, Okla., December 20, 2013 - The Tulsa 66ers, proud affiliate of the Oklahoma City Thunder, have acquired NBA veteran guard Reggie Williams from the available player pool, the team announced Friday.
Williams (6-6, 205) brings four years of NBA experience to Tulsa, holding NBA career averages of 8.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 172 games (32 starts). Williams was most recently a member of the Charlotte Bobcats from 2011 to 2013 after two seasons with the Golden State Warriors.
After playing collegiately for four seasons at Virginia Military Institute, Williams spent a year overseas before joining the NBA D-League with the Sioux Falls Skforce in 2009. Williams played 31 games (all starts) with the Skyforce, averaging 26.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals before signing with Golden State in March of 2010. He was named to the All-NBA D-League First Team for the 2009-10 season.
While at VMI, Williams averaged 22.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.6 steals.
Williams is expected to be in uniform when the 66ers face the Iowa Energy in Des Moines, Iowa, on Sunday afternoon.
In a related move, the 66ers have waived guard Nick Murphy.
