Sioux Falls Stampede News Release

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Sioux Falls Stampede Hockey Club has landed 25 current and former players on 16 National Hockey League Development Camp Rosters over the past two weeks. Leading the charge, the Detroit Red Wings invited three players, current defenseman Jack Phelan and former players Sam Stange and Karsen Dorwart.

Five of the Herd's 2023 NHL Entry Draft picks were in attendance at their respective camps. A member of the upcoming 2023-24 Stampede team, Jake Toll also was invited to the Vegas Golden Knights' camp. In total, the Herd will have five athletes on the 2023-24 roster that have attended an NHL Development Camp, four that were drafted and one undrafted.

The purpose of NHL Development Camps are to educate and direct players in their professional development and conditioning. For undrafted players, it is an opportunity to make an impression in front of an NHL staff and front office. These camps also allow fans to see a closer look at the prospects within their organization and show what the future of the club could look like.
