Johnstown, PA (January 31) - David Gove will become the 23rd Johnstown Chief to reach the National Hockey League.

Gove, 27, has been called up by the Carolina Hurricanes, who travel to face the Montreal Canadiens, tonight. Gove has 27 points, including 12 goals, and 32 PIM's in 43 games for the Lowell Lock Monsters this season.

Gove, 5'9 and 190 pounds, played for the Johnstown Chiefs in 2001-02, recording 49 points (17G, 32A) in 54 games, and four points in eight playoff games. He played nine games for the Orlando Solar Bears before coming to the Chiefs, in 2001. Gove has played 340 professional games since leaving Western Michigan University, including 277 AHL games.

Doug O'Brien became the 22nd Chief to play in the NHL, when he skated for Tampa Bay, last weekend.
