Saint John Sea Dogs News Release
BOUCHERVILLE, QC - The 2024 QMJHL Draft Lottery to determine the draft order for the upcoming QMJHL Entry Draft presented by Fenplast takes place tonight at 7:30 p.m., on RDS, during a special Hockey 360 broadcast.
It is the ninth time in franchise history that the Saint John Sea Dogs will be entered into the draft lottery and the third time the Sea Dogs have been involved in the five-team format, which began in 2017.
Saint John won the five-team draft lottery in 2019 with just one ball in the draw and a five percent chance at the first pick, the same odds the team holds in this year's lottery. The Sea Dogs won the two-team draw in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2014 and 2015 as well.
In the lottery to determine who will draft first, the 21 balls will be distributed as follows:
Val-d'Or Foreurs: 9 balls, 43% chance of drafting 1st
Val-d'Or Foreurs: 6 balls, 28% chance
Cape Breton Eagles: 3 balls, 14% chance
Quebec Remparts: 2 balls, 10% chance
Saint John Sea Dogs: 1 ball, 5% chance
The Sea Dogs also own the eighth overall pick in this year's Draft. Originally belonging to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, the pick was acquired in a trade with the Cape Breton Eagles back in August.
The 2024 QMJHL Entry Draft takes place on Friday, June 7th and Saturday, June 8th at the Avenir Centre in Moncton, New Brunswick.
