Boucherville, QC - The lottery to determine the Top 5 for the upcoming QMJHL Draft presented by Fenplast took place this evening on RDS, during a special Hockey 360 broadcast.

The Cape Breton Eagles will have the chance to draft first overall on June 7 at the Avenir Centre in Moncton.

The Eagles will be speaking first for the second time in three years. In 2022, they chose defenseman Tomas Lavoie.

The Eagles benefited from the first-round pick acquired from the Saint John Sea Dogs, who finished the regular season 16th overall. With 3 of the 21 balls in the lottery, the Eagles had a 14% chance of picking first.

Last (18th) in the overall standings, the Val-d'Or Foreurs had nine balls. Adding the six balls of the pick acquired from the Québec Remparts, the Foreurs had a 71% chance of winning the first overall pick.

Instead, Val-d'Or will have to settle for second and third place, ahead of the Remparts (pick acquired from the Charlottotetown Islanders) and the Sea Dogs (pick acquired from the Gatineau Olympiques).
