Chicago Sky News Release
CHICAGO - Tickets are on sale now for the Chicago Sky's 2021 WNBA Playoff game on Thursday, Sept. 23 at Wintrust Arena. Kicking off the official start to the postseason, Chicago (No. 6 seed) will be on home-court to face the Dallas Wings in a win-or-go-home, single-elimination playoff appearance.
"We appreciate this moment, because playoffs aren't promised for anyone," said Sky General Manager & Head Coach James Wade. "You have seasons full of expectations, but the first goal in mind is always the reaching the playoffs, so we are just happy to get here. Now it's a clean slate - so we get to play for our city and for each other. We're excited."
Chicago has clinched playoff berths for three consecutive seasons under Wade's leadership. The 2021 WNBA Playoffs will mark the franchise's seventh trip to the postseason in the past nine years. Prior to 2013, the Sky had not reached the playoffs since the team's inaugural season of 2006.
The Sky finished the 2021 regular season as the league leader free-throw shooting (84.5%, a new team record), assists (21.8 APG) and assist percentage, becoming the first team in WNBA history to log assists on more than 70 percent of their baskets (70.7%).
Chicago also enters the postseason ranking second-best in the WNBA in fast-break points (10.8), points in the paint (38.9) and top three in scoring for the third straight year (83.3 PPG).
Tickets are on-sale now at sky.wnba.com, Ticketmaster, or by calling (866) SKY-WNBA.
