
2011 WHL Championship Series Live on SHAW in High Definition

CALGARY, AB - WHL Commissioner Ron Robison and SHAW Communications announced today that all games during the 2011 WHL Championship Series between the Husky WHL Eastern Conference Champion Kootenay Ice and the Kal Tire WHL Western Conference Champion Portland Winterhawks will be televised LIVE on SHAW and SHAW Direct 'Channel 299' throughout Western Canada. All games will also be available in High Definition in most areas on channel 303 on your Shaw cable box.
During the Championship Series the WHL on SHAW will feature the play-by-play of Dan Russell with analysis from Bill Wilms in booth and Cam Moon from rink-side. SHAW's WHL Central and host Joey Kenward will be on location throughout the series to continue providing exclusive features, news and highlights during the broadcasts.
The WHL is also pleased to announce that SHAW TV will broadcast a special presentation of the 2011 WHL Awards prior to game one of the 2011 WHL Championship Series on Friday, May 6th at 7:00 pm PT. The program will feature footage from the WHL Awards Luncheon and exclusive one-on-one interviews with each award winner by WHL Central's Joey Kenward.

The OHL and the City of Mississauga, Ontario will serve as the official hosts for the 2011 MasterCard Memorial Cup. The Mississauga St. Michaels Majors will host the Ed Chynoweth Cup - WHL Champions, Ontario Hockey League Champions and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Champions from May 20 - 29, 2011.
