Published on August 2, 2011 under Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain) News Release
HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. - The 2011 Coastal Plain League season continued to prove it has been the best offensive year in the league's 15-year history Monday night, as the CPL broke the record for most hits - as a league - in a single season.
This year's teams were 20 hits away from breaking the record heading into Monday's games, and easily shattered it, as the league currently stands at 6,906 hits in 2011. The previous record was 6,762 hits set in 2007,
All 15 teams factored in with at least 336 hits each, but the Edenton Steamers currently lead all CPL clubs with 519 hits in 2011.
