Sioux Falls, S.D. (January 20, 2009) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that the team has acquired forward Kasib Powell and waived guards Milone Clark and Gary Ervin. Powell will make his season debut Thursday night on the road against the Erie BayHawks.

"Kasib is a great player and we are obviously excited about his decision to return to Sioux Falls," said Skyforce head coach Nate Tibbetts. "Playing in the NBA Development League will give him the best opportunity to return to the NBA."

Powell was named NBA D-League MVP last season after averaging 22.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.4 steals in 40 games with the Skyforce. The 6-7, 218-pound forward earned two NBA call-ups to the Miami Heat, averaging 7.6 points and 4.0 rebounds in 11 games (four starts). The All-NBA D-League First Team selection recorded 14 points and three steals in the 2008 NBA D-League All-Star Game in New Orleans. He also tied the franchise single-game record for points (46), field goals made (17) and 3-point field goals made (10) against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on March 6, 2008.

The Skyforce's next game is on Thursday, Jan. 22 on the road against the Erie BayHawks. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT at the Tullio Arena.
