2006 AL MVP Coming to the DBAP

DURHAM NC-The Rochester Red Wings have announced that Minnesota Twins 2006 American League MVP Justin Morneau will be rehabbing with the team during their upcoming series at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park August 8-11. Morneau is recovering from a June 29 surgery to remove a herniated disk fragment in his neck on June 29.
The 2006 MVP was hitting .225 with four home runs and 21 RBI in 55 games before being placed on the disabled list on June 14. Morneau hit .345 in 2010 with 18 home runs and 56 RBI in 81 games before being sidelined for the remainder of the season with a concussion.
Morneau is a four-time MLB All-Star (2007-10) and also won the silver slugger award as the best hitting first baseman in the American League in 2006 and 2008. He also finished second in the MVP voting behind the Boston Red Sox Dustin Pedroia in 2008.
During his MVP season Morneau hit 34 home runs and was second in the American League with 130 RBI, while appearing in 157 games. Over a four year span from 2006-2009 he drove in a team high 470 runs.
