
15 Hits Not Enough For 'Frogs

La Crosse, WI - In an offensive battle the Green Bay Bullfrogs fell to the La Crosse Loggers on Saturday Night 10-8. The 'Frogs trailed by as much as six in the game but pulled to within two and put the tying run at the plate in the ninth inning.
The 'Frogs and the Loggers traded two-out two-RBI singles in the bottom of the second and top of the third. The Loggers would break the tie in the bottom of the third inning with a lead off solo home run from Louie Lechich who scored three runs on the day.
The Loggers would bust the game open in the fourth with four runs as they knocked out the Bullfrogs' starter Mark Garcia with one out in the fourth. The first four hitters reached safely in the inning including Trentt Copeland who hit a three-run no doubt home run.
Green Bay would respond right away with three runs of their own to pull to within three. In the top of the fifth, Paul Hoenecke hit a two-RBI single and came into score on a double by Eric Peterson. The Bullfrogs offense was very good throughout the game. Green Bay out-hit the Loggers 15 - 14 in the 10-8 loss. The top four hitters in the 'Frogs line-up all had at least two hits. Jacob May continued his hit streak which is now at seven games with a 4-4 day.
Green Bay made the game interesting in the eighth and ninth innings. The 'Frogs were down 10-5 before they scored three runs in the final two frames. Eric Peterson and Steven Halcomb led the eighth off with singles. Peterson scored with an aggressive tag on a fly ball to right field and May hit a triple to score Halcomb. May was a homer shy of the cycle.
In the ninth, Paul Hoenecke led off the ninth inning with a single and scored on a base hit from, Nik Balog who was stranded at third base after a pair of strikeouts by Logger closer Trevor Tykell.
