Mobile BayBears News Release
MOBILE, AL- Previous to Thursday's game, the most runs the Mobile BayBears allowed in a game was 11. The Huntsville Stars eclipsed that in one inning alone, and beat the BayBears 14-3. The 12-run fifth included 10 hits, a BayBears error, three walks, and the ejection of pitching coach Mike Harkey. Stars outfielder Nelson Cruz grounded into a double play for the first two outs of the inning, then struck out to make the third out of the inning.
Brian Burgamy's two-run home run was a bright spot for the BayBears, who are now 1-2 in the second half. It was Burgamy's first hit with the BayBears since being promoted from Single-A Lake Elsinore.
Mike Thompson (5-5) has now lost three straight starts. Thompson allowed seven runs, three of which were earned, on eight hits.
The BayBears-Stars series continues Friday at 7:35. All BayBears games can be heard on 1480 AM WABB, Comcast Cable Channel 59, and on the internet via www.mobilebaybears.com.
