Rio Grande Valley took a first inning lead as Agustin Septimo doubled to lead off, went to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a Juan Melo RBI groundout for a 1-0 lead.
Amarillo took the lead in the second as Lockwood singled, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on an error. Andrew Wong would score after walking, moving to third on that error and scoring on a Willie James RBI single for a one-run lead. The Whitewings tied the game in the third as Juan Melo singled, stole second, went to third on an error and scored on a Rico Santana RBI single to tie the game 2-2.

The Dillas chipped away at the lead with a James RBI sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. Amarillo took the lead with a three-run fifth, punctuated by a two-run RBI triple by Angel Reyes for a 6-4 lead.
