
Roadrunners' Streak Snapped By Colts

EDINBURG, TEXAS ---- The Edinburg Roadrunners' win streak ended at four games with a 3-2 loss at the hands of the San Angelo Colts Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. With the loss Edinburg now falls three games back of San Angelo for first place in the United League standings.
The Roadrunners (43-32) got on the board in the bottom of the second with some help from the Colts defense. Robert Matlock reached on a fielder's choice then moved over to third after two groundouts and then came into score on an error by Colts third baseman Bryan Frichter giving Edinburg the early 1-0 lead.
San Angelo (46-29) responded in the top of the third with a two-run double by Rich Paz that allowed Hank Lanto and Ronnie Gaines to score. Selwyn Langaigne followed with an RBI double down the third base line that drove in Paz making it a 3-1 game in favor of the Colts.
Osiel Flores led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a double and Eric Gonzalez moved him to second after being hit by a pitch from Colts starter Ezequiel Astacio (9-1). Vincent Blue moved both runners into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt for Sergio Guerrero who hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Flores to touch home plate making it 3-2.
Eric Montoya (5-4) picked up the loss after he allowed three runs, one earned, in eight innings of work.
Jameson Maj pitched a scoreless ninth for his fifth save of the season giving the Colts the 3-2 victory and snapping the Roadrunners' win streak.
Edinburg and San Angelo will play the final game of this four-game series Thursday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Pedro Flores (5-4) is expected to face Brian Henschel (10-3) with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
