Jacksonville signs Veteran Defensive Back Kenny Veal
All-PIFL Defensive Back joins Sharks secondary
JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks announce today the signing of defensive back Kenny Veal who enters his fifth season in arena football and first year with the Sharks.
Veal (5'11, 190) Spent the 2017 season with the Cleveland Gladiators of the AFL, where he totaled 24 tackles, three pass breakups, three interceptions, including one for a touchdown. Veal also served on special teams for Cleveland, returning 26 kicks for 462 yards. Veal was reassigned by Gladiators and finished the 2017 season with the Green Bay Blizzard where he played in six games, landing 18 tackles, three pass breakups and one interception. Veal played for the Cleveland Gladiators in 2016, but was placed on reassignment by Cleveland in May 2016, Veal was picked up six days later by the Wichita Falls Nighthawks where he led the conference with 38 tackles, averaging 6.3 a game and had four interceptions. Veal spent his first two years of his career with the Nashville Venom (2014-2015) and received All-PIFL Honors in 2015.
Prior to his professional career, Kenny Veal began his college career at Toledo from 2008-2009 where he totaled 38 tackles, two interceptions before transferring to Grand Valley State. During his time as a Laker, Veal racked up 40 tackles, six pass breakups and two interceptions in 2011. In 2012, he finished his college career at Thomas More College where he earned First Team All-PAC Honors his senior year.
A native of Hamilton, Ohio, Veal earned Second Team All-Butler County honors at Hamilton High School where he played running back and defensive back. Veal was selected to play in the Big 33 All-Star Game after rushing for 920 yards and six touchdowns his senior year. He also caught 11 passes for 134 yards and three touchdowns.
