Amarillo Dillas News Release

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas clawed their way back down 4-1 against the Edinburg Roadrunners and an error in the tenth inning scored the winning run as the Dillas beat the Roadrunners 5-4 on Friday night in front of 2,351 fans at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.

Dillas reliever Tyler Pearson (1-0) got the win, pitching a scoreless ninth and tenth while striking out three. Roadrunners reliever Ricardo Serrano (0-1) got the loss, as he allowed the winning runner on base in the tenth. Dillas second baseman Jermel Lomack went 2-4 with a two-RBI double and had seven defensive assists in the effort.

The Roadrunners took a first inning lead with five hits and three runs to show for it. Amarillo responded in the bottom half as Joaquin Rodriguez tripled and scored on a Carlos Figueroa RBI groundout for a 3-1 deficit.

Edinburg scored again in the third as Felix Molina doubled, went to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a Ambiorix Concepcion groundout for a 4-1 score.

Both starters kept the game at that score through the sixth as Amarillo starter Taylor Allen was replaced by Chris Ingoglia, while Edinburg's starter Mark DiBernardo stayed in for the seventh. In that inning, Stephen Douglas led off with a single, followed by an Alberto Cruz single to put runners on the corners. TJ Warren stepped in and hit a flare RBI single to score Douglas. Following a Brian Bueno flyout to put runners and second and third, Edinburg DiBernardo was removed in favor of Serrano. With two runners in scoring position, Lomack doubled home both runners on the first pitch to tie the game 4-4.

Through nine innings, neither team could score, requiring extra innings. The Dillas found themselves in trouble in the tenth inning as the Roadrunners had runners on the corners and one out. Robert Matlock tried to hit a sacrifice fly to left field, but Warren caught the ball and threw a bullet home to get the runner and keep the game tied.

In the bottom half, an Adam De La Garza single and a Rodriguez double put two runners on for Figueroa, who was intentionally walked. Daryl Jones stepped in and hit a grounder to third baseman Wilson Batista, who delivered it home, but catcher Osiel Flores dropped the ball to score De La Garza for the walkoff win 5-4.

With the win, the Dillas improve to 13-10, while the Roadrunners fall to 16-6.
