
Dillas take win in extra innings

AMARILLO, Texas- The Edinburg Roadrunners scored three runs in the first inning, but after a throwing error to home plate in the bottom of the tenth inning suffered a 5-4 loss to the Amarillo Dillas Thursday night at Potter County Memorial Stadium.
Edinburg (16-6) got on the board early off Dillas (13-10) starter Taylor Allen starting with a single by lead-off hitter Wilmer Pino who stole second to get into scoring position. Felix Molina hit his first triple of the season to score Pino and put Edinburg up 1-0. Molina then scored on a wild pitch by Allen to put the Roadrunners up by two. Wilson Batista singled then advanced to second on a wild pitch, followed by a single from Ambiorix Concepcion to advance Batista to third, Alexis Hernandez singled to score Batista giving Edinburg the early 3-0 lead.
Joaquin Rodriguez tripled off Roadrunners starter Mark DiBernardo to start things for the Dillas and was able to score on a ground out to second by Carlos Figueroa to make it a 3-1 game.
The Dillas tied things up in the seventh to cause the extra innings, and took the win over the Roadrunners after bases were loaded and a throwing error to home plate occurred to score Jermel Lomack.
Edinburg and Amarillo are set to face again in game two of the four game series tomorrow night at Potter County Memorial Stadium with Eric Montoya taking the mound for the Roadrunners. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
