Biloxi Shuckers News Release
BILOXI, MS - Entering the ninth inning, the Biloxi Shuckers (45-44, 11-9) trailed the Montgomery Biscuits (44-44, 8-11) by five. 10 runs, 15 batters and seven hits later, the Shuckers tallied their biggest inning of the year to defeat the Biscuits, 12-7, at Riverwalk Stadium on Saturday night. The win clinched Biloxi's second straight series win and their first at Riverwalk Stadium since they won three of five in May of 2018.
Shuckers' starter Jacob Misiorowski electrified the Riverwalk Stadium crowd by touching 100 MPH in the first, striking out the first batter he faced at the Double-A level. A hit batter, walk and a two-RBI bloop single from Logan Driscoll gave the Biscuits an early 2-0 lead in the first. In the third, the Biscuits tallied two more off a single to right from Johan Lopez. The Shuckers struck back with a run in the fourth off an RBI single from Lamar Sparks.
The teams traded zeroes on the scoreboard into the seventh, when Logan Driscoll smashed a solo home run to right, giving Montgomery a 5-2 lead. Shuckers' reliever Robbie Baker finished out the inning, giving him a new season-high with three innings.
In the eighth, the Shuckers brought home their third run of the night with a sacrifice fly from Isaac Collins. The Biscuits responded with two in the bottom of the inning with a two-run shot from Gionti Turner, his first in Double-A.
In the ninth, the Shuckers started the comeback with a two-run home run from Tyler Black, tying Jackson Chourio for the team lead with 14. After Chourio and Collins both singled, Wes Clarke tallied a double to the wall in right, driving in two to make it 7-6. The Shuckers then tied it when a bases-loaded wild pitch allowed Felix Valerio to score, who entered as a pinch runner for Clarke. A walk to Sparks reloaded the bases, and Nick Kahle came through with a bases-clearing double off the top of the wall in right, giving Biloxi a 10-7 lead. After Black singled and Chourio walked to load the bases again, Collins drove both home with a single to right, extending the lead to 12-7.
In the bottom of the ninth, Cam Robinson worked around three walks with a pop-out, strikeout and ground-out, giving Biloxi a wild, 12-7, win. Zach Vennaro (4-3) eanred the win while Enmanuel Mejias (3-3) took the loss.
The series wraps up on Sunday with Tobias Myers going for Biloxi against Sean Hunley. First pitch is scheduled for 3:33 p.m. at Riverwalk Stadium.
