DASH EARN WALK-OFF WIN ON FRIDAY

The Dash came from behind to earn a 7-6, walk-off win in 10 innings over Buies Creek on Friday night at BB&T Ballpark. Trailing 6-3, Winston-Salem loaded the bases with nobody out on a single from Blake Rutherford, a double by Mitch Roman and a walk from Gavin Sheets against right-hander Carlos Sanabria. Back-to-back sacrifice flies from Yermin Mercedes and Ti'Quan Forbes cut the deficit to one. Next, with the tying run at first, Yeyson Yrizarri lined a single to left to put runners at the corners with two outs. Then, on a 1-1 pitch from Sanabria, Zach Remillard drove a single into left to bring home Sheets to tie the game at six. On the first pitch of the bottom of the 10th inning, Laz Rivera laid down a sacrifice bunt back to the mound. But, the throw from Jesus Balaguer sailed over Osvaldo Duarte's head to bring home the winning run.

MOST NOTEWORTHY OF ALL

As the Dash rallied back on the offensive side, right-hander Tyler Johnson set a career-high in innings pitched (three) and strikeouts (six) to earn the victory on Friday. A fifth-round pick out of the University of South Carolina, Johnson has struck out 15 batters in 10.1 innings while posting a 2.61 ERA with the Dash. The former Gamecock has been lights out all year long, having posted a 1.33 ERA with Low-A Kannapolis before being promoted.

QUICKER TRIP TO 56

With 56 wins this season, Winston-Salem has already matched its win total from both 2016 and 2017. After going 56-83 in 2016, the Dash went 56-84 in 2017. The last time the Dash reached 56 wins just 92 games in was their 2012 season. Meanwhile, Dash are atop the Carolina League in several offensive categories, including runs (473), doubles (189), triples (27), hits (832), RBIs (446) and slugging percentage (.420).
