Iowa Wolves News Release

Hidalgo, Texas- Terry Whisnant scored a season-high 38 points on 11 of 17 shooting in a 121-139 Iowa Energy (2-16) loss to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (13-7) Thursday night.

The 38 points recorded by Whisnant was the most scored in a game this season by an Energy player. Troy Williams' 32-point performance on Tuesday against the Vipers was the previous high.

Whisnant shot 8-14 from the 3-point line, nearly tying his own single-game record set on Dec. 20 against Santa Cruz (9).

Williams finished with 17 points and five rebounds in his second game since being assigned to Iowa on Dec. 26. Early foul trouble limited the forward to 26 minutes.

Both teams shot an impressive 52% from the field during the game. Iowa shot 14 of 34 (41%) from behind the arc. The 14 3-pointers made was a single-game high for the season.

In his first start with the Energy, Wes Washpun recorded four points, 11 assists, four rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots in 35 minutes of action.

Five players scored in double figures for Iowa in the loss.

Chris Johnson and Houston Rockets assignee Chinanu Onuaku each scored 23 points for the Vipers. Onuaku has posted a double-double in both matchups against the Energy this season.

Iowa continues their five-game road trip tomorrow night against the Austin Spurs at 7:30 p.m. CT.
