Westchester Knicks Sputter out in Loss to Canton Charge

CANTON, OH - The Westchester Knicks (16-23), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, lost its three-quarter lead early in the fourth, ultimately unable to recover and taking a 120-112 loss to the Canton Charge (23-17), the Cleveland Cavaliers' affiliate.

Westchester's John Jenkins paced all scorers with 31 points, hitting 5-of-8 from three-point land and grabbing 11 rebounds for a double-double. Travis Trice II followed with 18 points and five rebounds in his second appearance for the team this season. Courtney Fells did a bit of everything with 16 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, while Keith Wright also contributed in all areas with 12 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and three blocked shots.

On assignment from the Cleveland Cavaliers, guard Kay Felder led the Charge with 26 points and 10 assists for the double-double, also pulling down five rebounds. John Holland was right behind with 24 points, while the rest of Canton's starters (Roosevelt Jones, Jonathan Holmes, and Eric Moreland) all finished with 12 points. Moreland managed a double- double as he added 10 rebounds, with six assists.

Westchester led by as many as 10 points in the first, never giving up the lead in the first half after the first five minutes of the game. Canton had an especially rough first quarter, managing just 18 points on 29 percent shooting while going 1-for- 9 from downtown. While the home team fared better in the second, the Knicks continued to make plays and gained as much as a 15-point lead over the Charge.

The momentum began to shift in the third, but the fourth quarter was when Canton took full control of the game. The Charge opened up the final twelve minutes on an 8-2 run to take its first lead since early in the first. That lead stretched to double-digits as Westchester hurt its own cause, giving up 10 points in seven turnovers, while Canton muscled its way to a 38-point quarter. Though the Knicks got back within one point with 3:05 on the clock, the Charge used an 11-4 run to close out the game with a 120-112 win.

The Westchester Knicks take a break from game action until the weekend, returning to the road on Friday, March 9 against the Maine Red Claws, the Boston Celtics' affiliate, at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on MSG Networks and streamed live on Facebook Live.
