Jaleel Roberts, a 7'1" center from UNC-Asheville, was selected 2nd overall by the Santa Cruz Warriors as the team prepares to tip-off its 2016-17 campaign. After going undrafted in the 2015 NBA draft, Roberts joined the Washington Wizards for NBA Summer League 2015 and later signed with the Wizards for training camp, but was waived by the team after appearing in three preseason games.
Roberts played for the Brisbane Spartans in Australia during the 2016 SEABL season, but left the team in June 2016 in order to re-join the Washington Wizards for the 2016 NBA Summer League. Roberts went to training camp with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2016, but was waived after appearing in five preseason games.
LaDontae Henton, a 6'6" small forward out of the Providence, was drafted 10th overall by Santa Cruz. After going undrafted in the 2015 NBA Draft, Henton had international stints with Baloncesto Sevilla of the Spanish League and the Alaska Aces of the Philippine Basketball Association.
As a senior at Providence during the 2014-15 season, Henton led the Big East in scoring at 19.7 points per game, was named first-team All-conference, and helped lead the Friars to their second consecutive NCAA tournament appearance for the first time since the 1988-89 and 1989-90 seasons. Henton finished his Friar career with 2,059 points and 1,054 rebounds, becoming the second player in school history to achieve the 2000/1000 milestone.
