
BayHawks Select Six in 2016 NBA Development League Draft

Erie, Pennsylvania - The Erie BayHawks added six players through today's NBA Development League Draft, including first overall pick Anthony Brown. Erie held four second-round picks, one third round pick, and one sixth round pick.
Brown, who plays both forward and guard, spent the 2015-16 season with the Los Angeles Lakers after being selected with the 34th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. His season included several assignments to the Lakers' D-League affiliate, the Los Angeles D-Fenders. He appeared in 29 games for the Lakers, including 11 starts, while averaging 3.9 points and 2.4 points. He was waived by the Lakers on October 24.
Markus Kennedy, drafted with the first pick in the second round, entered the D-League Draft after playing at Southern Methodist University for three years. Last season, he averaged 9.25 points and 6.3 rebounds on a Mustangs team that went 27-7. In his junior and sophomore seasons, he was named to the NABC All-District Second Team and to the All-AAC Second Team.
Shane Richardson was drafted directly following Kennedy with the 24th overall pick. Richardson played four years at Manhattan College. Last season, Richardson shot 36% from behind the arc while averaging 17.1 points. He earned NABC All-District First Team and All-MAAC First team honors last season. In his freshman season, Richards was named the MAAC Rookie of the Year.
7-footer Shevon Thompson, taken with the 33rd pick, played two seasons at George Mason University. He averaged 12.5 points and 9.9 points in his junior and senior seasons while tacking on 11.3 and 10.6 rebounds. Thompson, a native of Jamaica, began his collegiate career at NJCAA Harcum College. While with George Mason, he was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Third Team in the 2015-16 season.
Davonte Lacy, drafted 37th overall, graduated from Washington State in 2015 where he was a consistent starter throughout his four years. He averaged double-digit points in all but his freshman season and put up 16.9 points, 2.1 assists, and 2.6 rebounds-per-game in his senior season. Lacy played for two international teams, Magnofit Gussinger Knicks and BC Hallmann Vienna (both of Austria's Bundeslig), last season.
The BayHawks final pick of the draft was guard Brandis Raley-Ross with the first pick of the sixth round. Raley-Ross, a graduate of South Carolina, has spent time with five different international teams since the 2012-13 season. His most productive season came during 2014-15 when he started 37 games for and averaged 22.1 points and 6.3 rebounds-per-game.
