Toronto FC II Sign Martin Davis

February 3, 2016 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Toronto FC II News Release

Toronto FC II announced Wednesday that the club has signed midfielder Martin Davis to a USL contract. As per club and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. He will be added to the roster upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

"Martin took a big step last season when he left his home country of Jamaica for Toronto leaving his family and friends to test himself and continue his development as a footballer," said Toronto FC II Head Coach Jason Bent. "This will be a good measuring tool for Martin to see how his development has progressed. Splitting time between our PDL and League1 Ontario team, as well as appearing in a few matches for Toronto FC II, has helped him get stronger and adjust to the power and pace of the North American game."

Davis, 19, appeared in two matches, starting in one, while logging 68 minutes during the 2015 USL regular season for Toronto FC II as a call up from the Kia Toronto FC Senior Academy team. He made his first professional start on April 19 against Whitecaps FC 2 and his professional debut on March 28 against FC Montreal. Davis originally joined the Kia Toronto FC Academy in January 2015.

Davis has represented the Jamaican Men's National team at the U-17 and U-20 levels. He made his international debut for the Jamaican U-17 team during the Caribbean Cup against Bermuda.
