West Valley, UT (2/18/17)- Bryce Van Brabant scored both goals for the Idaho Steelhead (28-17-7) in regulation, but it required a Jefferson Dahl deke and three Landon Bow saves in the shootout to power the Steelheads to a 3-2 win over the Utah Grizzlies (25-21-5) on Saturday night at Maverik Center. The Steelheads are now winners in four of their last five games and improved to 6-2 in the shootout this season.

Both teams had power play opportunities in overtime, but several big stops by Bow and Utah's Ryan Faragher helped usher the game to the shootout. In the shootout, Dahl beat Faragher with a move to the backhand, and Bow turned away Cam Reid, Mathieu Aubin, and Michael Pelech.

Joe Basaraba nearly ended the game on several occasions late. Basaraba was stopped by Faragher in close on a 2-on-1 chance, and then was stopped by Faragher's toe on a point-blank rebound opportunity in the dying seconds of regulation. In the first minute of overtime, Basaraba rang the post.

Landon Bow made some clutch saves as well, making saves on Mathieu Aubin and Ralph Cuddemi during Utah's late power play in overtime to preserve the 2-2 tie.

Bryce Van Brabant opened the scoring just 1:35 into the game with his third goal in the last three games, the forward playing his fourth game with Idaho. With the Steelheads breaking down 3-on-2, Anthony Luciani dropped the puck back to trailer David Glen. Glen's wrist shot was fought off by Faragher, but the rebound off the back glass popped right back over the goal and landed in the crease for any easy Van Brabant tap-in.

Just 21 seconds into the third period, Van Brabant scored again, surprising Faragher with a quick wrist shot off the rush from the top of the left circle that got past Faragher's glove.

The Grizzlies would fight back to tie the game in the third period. Michael Pelech buried a rebound of a deflected shot for his 13th of the season at 9:05 of the period. At 15:56 of the third, Jon Puskar beat Bow with a slap shot from the left circle for his 17th of the year to tie the game.

With the win, the Steelheads extended their lead to eight points over the Grizzlies in the Mountain Division standings. The Grizzlies' overtime point pulled them to within two points of Alaska for the division's final playoff spot. Idaho is now 11-9-4 this season away from CenturyLink Arena.

The Steelheads will go for the three-game sweep of the Grizzlies on Monday afternoon at Maverik Center, the final meeting between the teams this season. Puck-drop is scheduled for 1:30pm MT with the game available on 1350 KTIK and on ECHLTV.

PLAY OF THE GAME:

The final four minutes of regulation and all of overtime centered on a goaltenders duel between Landon Bow and Ryan Faragher to see who would blink first. That included 1:20 of power play time for the Grizzlies to finish overtime where Bow made saves in close on Mathieu Aubin and Michael Pelech before Ralph Cuddemi whistled a shot just wide in the closing seconds.
