Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Senators split a twin bill with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Sunday afternoon at FNB Field. The Fisher Cats won game one 6-1 and Yadiel Hernandez's walk-off single gave the Senators the 2-1 win in game two.

New Hampshire opened the scoring in game one when Cavan Biggio hit a two-run home run to right to put the team up 1-0.

The Senators scored their lone run in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Yadiel Hernandez against Fisher Cat starter Sean Reid-Foley.

Senators starter Logan Darnell (2-1) took the loss despite allowing just two runs on seven hits while striking out seven across five innings.

The Senators stranded seven players on base over the first three innings and 11 overall as they were unable to score the rest of the way.

New Hampshire broke the game open with four runs on four hits in the top of the seventh, highlighted by a RBI triple by Max Pentecost, as the club took a 6-1 lead which would be the final score.

Jose Fernandez (3-0) earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief.

"We had some chances and didn't do our job with situational hitting," Senators manager Matt LeCroy said. "I thought that if we had better at-bats and could get a run here or there we would have been right in the game, but we let them off the hook."

Jake Lowery put the Senators in front in game two with a solo home run to left, his third of the season.

Senators starter Brady Dragmire shutout New Hampshire through the first five frames including retiring 12 in a row between the first and fifth, however the Fisher Cats tied the game in the sixth. After back-to-back walks and a single loaded the bases to start the inning, Cavan Biggio hit a sacrifice fly to center to knot the game at 1-1.

Dragmire went five innings and allowed one run on three hits while tying a career high with seven strike outs.

"(Dragmire) is starting to feel comfortable. He's starting to understand the starting role and what it takes to pace yourself," LeCroy said. "He did a nice job against a real quality lineup."

The game remained tied until the bottom of the seventh. With Khayyan Norfork at second base after reaching on a lead-off walk, Yadiel Hernandez hit a line drive into center field for a walk-off single to give the Senators the 2-1 victory.

Roman Mendez picked up the win with a perfect inning of relief while Dusty Isaacs (2-1) suffered the loss after allowing the winning run in his lone inning.

"(Yadiel) laid off some tough pitches and then (Isaacs) gave in and gave him a fastball and he was ready for it," LeCroy said. "Yadiel has had a tremendous year for us."

"We need that win. We've been struggling and we're playing one of the top teams in the (Eastern League Eastern) Division. That we came in with a split is pretty good."

The Senators embark on a seven-game road trip beginning with a three-game series against the Bowie Baysox that starts Monday night. Jefry Rodriguez starts for the Senators opposite Bowie starter Michael Kelly. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Prince George's Stadium.
