Tri-City Dust Devils News Release

The San Diego Padres announced today that they have assigned outfielder Grant Little, the 74th overall pick in this year's Major League Baseball Draft, to the Tri-City Dust Devils. Little was selected by the Padres in the Competitive Balance Round B after a standout career at Texas Tech University.

The Texas native is fresh off of an impressive run at the College World Series with the Red Raiders. He helped guide Texas Tech to Omaha, where the Red Raiders ultimately were eliminated by Florida on June 21.

His outstanding season led to him earning All-American honors from Baseball America (second team), National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (second team), DI Baseball (second team), Collegiate Baseball Newspaper (third team) and Perfect Game (third team).

He hit .370 with 12 home runs and 80 runs batted this spring for Texas Tech. He even had a nine-RBI performance earlier in the year, becoming just the third player in program history to achieve the feat.

The Dust Devils are back in action at Gesa Stadium tonight for the second game of the five-game series against the Boise Hawks. Tonight there will be a postgame fireworks show Saturday at Gesa Stadium presented by Back to Basics Chiropractic. Tickets are still available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com.
