OTTAWA - RHP Chris Murphy dominated the Ottawa Champions over seven innings, allowing one run on five hits, struck out four and walked three. The outing carried the Aigles to a convincing 6-2 win to clinch the series at RCGT Park.

With the loss, Ottawa is officially eliminated from playoff contention for the second straight year. Ottawa last made the playoffs in 2016 when they won their first and only championship in team history.

Murphy improves to 11-5 on the season, lowering his ERA to 3.54. With that victory, he is tied with the Champions own RHP Jordan Kurokawa for the most in the Can-Am League.

OF Alberth Martinez continued his hot hitting of late, driving in two runs with a double after hitting a three-run shot in the series opener. INF Michael Suchyalso drove in two runs for Trois Rivieres. INF Sam Dexter homered and drove in scored two runs in the victory.

RHP Steve Borkowski started strong but couldn't last past the fifth. He gave up seven hits, six runs (five earned), walked two and struck out nine. Borkowski drops to 4-9 on the season. With 107 innings pitched, Borkowski ranks seventh league wide.

INF Daniel Bick had two hits, including a double and that puts him into a three-way tie for fourth in the CanAm League. INF Vinny Guglietti hit a solo home run and now has nine on the season. INF Michael Hungate also went deep for his fourth home run for Ottawa.

LEE SIGNED, JOHNSON OFF WAIVERS

Before the game, the Champions officially signed LHP Bill Lee to a contract. The 72-year-old former Montreal Expo is set to start for the Champions on Labour Day Monday as part of Expos Day at the ballpark.

Lee will appear at the park along with Oil Can Boyd and a list of other former Expos for a day that promises to send Champions fans home happy on the final day of the regular season.

He was signed early due to the Can-Am League's signing deadline, which is set for August 25 every season.

The Champions also activated OF Coco Johnson from the disabled list on the same day. The left fielder had not played since July 28 in Trois-Rivieres, where he injured his shoulder colliding with the wall while making a diving catch.

RHP Jordan Kurokawa will be on the mound tomorrow for Ottawa in the series finale and you can bring your dog to the park! Buy a ticket and bring your dog along. Adoptable dogs will be on site with treats and water stations!
