Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Alec Hansen took a no hitter into the sixth inning, but Lakewood tagged the Intimidators starter with a hard-luck loss, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood. Kannapolis (11-12) dropped its final two games of the week-long road trip after winning three of the team's first four games on the road this week.

The BlueClaws (13-12) broke up Hansen's no-hit bid with one out in the sixth. Jose Antequera reached base on a Mitch Roman error to open the inning, and Henri Lartigue singled up the middle to break up the gem, moving Antequera from first to third. Mickey Moniak followed with a sacrifice-fly to cash Antequera for a 1-0 lead.

Hansen (1-2) opened with five no-hit innings. After Lakewood's first batter of the game reached on an error, the 6'7" Kannapolis pitcher retired 12 straight before walking Luke Williams to open the fifth. Hansen finished with 6.0 innings pitched, allowing an unearned run on one hit with a walk and three strikeouts.

Harold Arauz (1-2) earned the relief win for Lakewood, with 4.0 scoreless innings to close the game. He retired the first 10 batters he faced and allowed just one hit while striking out one.

In the seventh, Lakewood added a run against Kannapolis reliever Lane Hobbs. David Martinelli doubled to the left-field corner, scoring Cord Sandberg from second base for a 2-0 lead.

Sixto Sanchez, the No. 5 prospect in the Phillies organization, started the game for Lakewood. He tossed 5.0 scoreless innings, working around a pair of hits while striking out four in a no decision.

The Intimidators suffered only their second shutout loss of 2017.

Kannapolis opens a 7-game home stand on Tuesday with a 3-game series against the Augusta GreenJackets (San Francisco Giants) as LHP Bernardo Flores (3-1, 2.66 ERA) takes the mound against Augusta's LHP Dominic Mazza (1-2, 3.48 ERA). The Intimidators return to Kannapolis for a 7-game home stand starting Tuesday, May 2, as the team hosts promotions such as a Wine & Paint Party (May 3), Thirsty Thursday (May 4), Military Appreciation Jersey Raffle (May 5), and Hawaii Vacation Giveaway (May 6).
