BOX SCORE GAME LOG

The SeaWolves could not take advantage of a solid starting pitching performance on Saturday night as they fell to the Altoona Curve, 4-1, at People's Natural Gas Field.

The SeaWolves jumped ahead in the top of the first inning against Curve starter Brandon Waddell. Harold Castro led off with a single, his first of four hits, and moved to second on a one-out Mike Gerber bunt. Christin Stewart followed and grounded to short, and on a Kevin Newman error, Castro scored for a 1-0 lead.

The lead was short lived as the Curve struck right back in the last of the first against Erie starter Artie Lewicki . With two outs, Connor Joe doubled with his first of four hits on the night. Edwin Espinal singled home Joe, tying the game at 1-1.

Altoona took the lead in the last of the sixth. With one out, Joe doubled and scored on an Espinal double for the 2-1 advantage.

The Curve added two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth against Erie reliever Wadis Joaquin. Joe led off with his third double and moved to third on a groundout. With two outs, Jordan Luplow and Wyatt Mathisen each walked, loading the bases for Jerrick Suiter . Suiter singled home a pair for a 4-1 Altoona lead.

Sean Keselica worked a 1-2-3 ninth for the Curve, earning his first save of the season.

Erie's offense struggled to follow up on their 10-run night on Friday. The 'Wolves went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position, stranding eight runners on base.

Tate Scioneaux (5-1) earned the win tossing 3.1 scoreless innings in relief of the starter Waddell. He allowed one hit, walking one and striking out one.

Lewicki (2-2) was the tough luck loser for the 'Wolves. He allowed two runs on seven hits with a walk and five strikeouts in a season-high 5.2 innings of work.

The SeaWolves will look to avoid a sweep on Sunday night against the Curve at 6 p.m. Lefty Matt Crouse (3-1, 6.29 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Tanner Anderson (2-3, 4.00 ERA).
