Foo and Mangiapane Notch Multi-Point Games in Heat Loss
March 3, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Stockton Heat News Release
Stockton, Calif. - Andrew Mangiapane kickstarted the third-period comeback effort but the Heat couldn't complete the comeback, falling to Bakersfield 5-4 at Stockton Arena on Saturday night. Things didn't start out well for the Heat as the Condors jumped out to a two-goal lead just 1:25 seconds into the contest, but the Heat would get one back on a power-play chance, five minutes later as Morgan Klimchuk would pull the Heat within one. Toward the end of the first, the Heat would tie things up with their second power-play goal of the game as Spencer Foo would record his second point of the night to tie the game up after 20-minutes. However, the second period would once again see the visitors jump on top, regaining their lead early in the period before Stockton's captain, Rod Pelley, tipped one past Bakersfield goalie Laurent Brossoit to knot the game up again. The tie was brief as Caleb Jones put the Condors back up one and David Gust restored the Condors two goal lead to take a 5-3 lead into the dressing room after two periods. Andrew Mangiapane brought the Heat back within one early in the third period but the Heat couldn't find the game tying goal despite some extended power-play time in the third, as Bakersfield closed out the game. Tomorrow we conclude Hockey Weekend Across America as we celebrate our local hockey heroes when the Heat host the San Diego Gulls at 5:00 p.m. It's another In-Shape 4 Pack game, where fans can purchase a four pack of tickets starting at $40. Fans can also enjoy $1 hot dogs, $2 sodas and $3 Rita's Italian Ices.
