ABOUT LAST GAME: Marcel Renteria tied career-highs in innings pitched and strikeouts on Thursday night. Despite the starter's best efforts, the Power defeated the Fireflies, 3-2, at Appalachian Power Park. Columbia did not trail until the final inning. West Virginia entered the bottom of the eighth down a run and exited leading, 3-2. On the offensive end, Matt Winaker blasted his team-best 11th homer of the season.

WHAT'S AT STAKE?: Columbia will win the series with a victory on Friday. It would be the first series win since the Fireflies took two out of three from Hagerstown from July 11-13 at Municipal Stadium. Columbia has won just three second-half series (out of 15).

BACK, BACK, BACK...GONE: After Matt Winaker went deep in the fourth inning on Thursday, the Fireflies have now recorded a homer in four straight games. That's the most consecutive games with a homer this season.

THE FINAL BATTLE: Friday's game is the final meeting between Columbia and West Virginia this season. Each club has won four times. The series has been particularly close: the eight games have been decided by just 16 runs. Half of the games have been decided by a single run, too.

SEE YA, CHARLESTON: The Fireflies continue their road trip to Hagerstown, Maryland, over the weekend. The current visit to Charleston, West Virginia, is a rare one for Columbia. This is the first time the Fireflies have played at Appalachian Power Park since July 3, 2016. Columbia is scheduled to visit Charleston again, though, in April and July of 2019.

IMPROVEMENT: Hansel Moreno leads off and starts at second base on Friday for the Fireflies. The infielder was hitting .177 just 24 games into the season. Since June 8, Moreno is hitting .282 (49 games). That's the best average during that span among current Fireflies.

THE OTHER GUYS: West Virginia's roster features six Pittsburgh Pirates prospects, according to MLB.com, and four of the top 10. The Power's every-day outfield of Lolo Sanchez, Travis Swaggerty and Calvin Mitchell is worth approximately $6.2 million in signing bonus.
