The Crawdads have gone 3-3 since last Friday (August 10th). The 'Dads are still in the playoff hunt, sitting four and a half games behind the Lakewood BlueClaws (as of Friday morning) with seventeen games to play.

The 'Dads were sunk by four homeruns in the series opener on Friday night against the Lakewood BlueClaws. Tyree Thompson struck out eight in his six innings of work but gave up seven runs as the 'Dads lost 7-1. Preston Scott had an RBI double to drive in the 'Dads only run. The game was called after seven innings as a heavy rain storm came through the area.

On Saturday the Crawdads evened the series with a 2-1 win. Hans Crouse, the number five prospect in the Rangers organization, got the start in his Crawdads debut, beginning the game with a 97 mph fastball. He pitched six innings, giving up just one run on three hits and two walks. Crouse struck out three batters. Justin Jacobs and Tyreque Reed had RBI base hits. Demarcus Evans struck out the side in the ninth inning to nail down his seventh save of the season.

The 'Dads fell to Lakewood 3-0 on Sunday, managing just five baserunners on the night. Miguel Aparicio and Yohel Pozo singled for the only two Crawdads hits. Starting pitcher Noah Bremer gave up two runs in four and two thirds innings.

A late rally came up short in Monday's series finale as the 'Dads lost 6-4. Bubba Thompson went three for four with a two-run homer, his sixth homerun of the season. He also stole his 25th base of the season while Yonny Hernandez stole his 34th bag. Thompson and Hernandez rank second and third in the South Atlantic League in stolen bases. Tyler Phillips delivered five scoreless innings, lowering his ERA to 2.79, which is fourth best in the league.

After a day off on Tuesday, the 'Dads snapped their two game skid with a 6-3 comeback win in Asheville against the Tourists on Wednesday. Bubba Thompson had a pair of RBI hits in the victory, including his fifth triple of the season. Sam Huff and Matt Whatley also had two hit nights for the 'Dads. Reid Anderson had another strong start, going seven innings and giving up three runs (only one earned run). The start dropped his ERA to 3.11, which ranks ninth in the league.

The 'Dads blanked the Tourists 3-0 last night. Yohel Pozo went two for three with a pair of RBIs and Bubba Thompson hit a solo homerun. AJ Alexy pitched four and two thirds innings, allowing two hits and striking out eight batters. Alex Eubanks delivered three hitless innings of relief before handing the ball to Joe Barlow for the final four outs. Barlow completed the two hitter and earned his seventh save.

The Crawdads trail the Lakewood BlueClaws in the Northern Division by 4.5 games and are 3.5 games behind the Kannapolis Intimidators for the Wild Card. If the BlueClaws win the second half championship in the Northern Division, a wild card team would qualify for the playoffs since the BlueClaws already clinched a playoff spot by winning the first half. According to South Atlantic rules, the team with the next best overall record would be chosen as the wild card.

The 'Dads go for the sweep over Asheville tonight and will head to Greenville next for a four game series. They return to Hickory next Thursday to take another shot at the first-place Lakewood BlueClaws.
