Dominant Fourth Quarter Lifts Wisconsin over Sioux Falls

OSHKOSH, WI - The Wisconsin Herd (10-6) snapped a two-game losing streak as they outscore the Sioux Falls Skyforce (7-8) 30-11 in the final quarter to run away with a 117-108 victory at Menomonee Nation Arena on Friday night.

Cameron Oliver (24 points and six rebounds) gave Wisconsin its first lead of the game just seconds before halftime, hitting a turnaround jump shot that put the Herd up 62-61 entering the break. However, it was all Skyforce to start the third quarter, as the visiting team jumped out to a 15-point lead with 5:04 left in the period.

Sioux Falls entered the fourth quarter with a 10-point lead, but was beat in nearly every statistical category in the final 12 minutes as the Herd ran away with the victory. The Skyforce shot just 4-of-22 from the field in the final period, and just 1-of-16 from three-point range after hitting 17 threes in the first three quarters.

Ike Nwamu received his first start of the season for Sioux Falls, and took full advantage of it for much of the game. He paced the Skyforce offense early on, and dropped a career-high 31 points on a career-high eight made three-pointers in the game. His night, however, came to an early end after he and Wisconsin guard Xavier Munford (26 points and six assists) were ejected in the final period following an altercation.

Tony Mitchell continued his dominant play, scoring 27 points to go along with 10 rebounds, eight assists and four steals in the contest. Mitchell's now averaging 30.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 3.3 steals in his last three games combined, which now includes two double-doubles.

Sioux Falls was drastically outscored in the paint again (58-38), and falls to just 2-7 when their opponents have an edge in that category. The Herd also shot at a 53.4 percent clip from the field in tonight's win, sinking the Skyforce to an 0-4 record when allowing opponents to shoot over 50 percent.

The Skyforce now return home to the comforts of the Sanford Pentagon after having completed a five-game road trip, taking divisional rival Iowa Wolves on Sunday, December 17 at 5:00PM CT.

Wisconsin will gear up for the second night of a back-to-back home stand against the Erie BayHawks Saturday, December 16 at Menomonee Nation Arena in Oshkosh, Wisconsin at 7:00PM CT.
