The Canton Charge (6-7), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, got their third straight victory by defeating the Grand Rapids Drive (7-10), 113-102, at the Canton Memorial Civic Center on Wednesday night.
Canton tied a season-high with 16 made threes and had a season-best shooting night by hitting 55% from the field as a team on 41-of-74 attempts. For the second straight game, seven different players scored in double figures for the Charge. Akeem Springs led Canton with a season-high 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting in 26 minutes. Cleveland Cavaliers assignment Ante Zizic scored 16 points on 5-of-6 from the field and 6-of-6 from the foul line in 16 minutes. The Charge bench unit accounted for 70 points in the game.
The Charge led for the rest of the game and by as many as 23 after a Marcus Thornton three-pointer put them ahead 9-6 with 7:58 left in the first quarter. Thornton finished with 16 points and four assists in 31 minutes. London Perrantes netted 12 points and dished out nine assists in 33 minutes. JaCorey Williams tallied his fourth double-double of the year by finishing with 11 points and 11 boards with two steals in 34 minutes.
The Drive were paced by Luis Montero's 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting in 34 minutes. Landry Nnoko posted a double-double of 17 points and 13 boards in 34 minutes. Kenneth Smith added 12 points and five assists in 41 minutes. Jamel Morris came off the bench to score 14 points in 19 minutes for Grand Rapids.
