Coach Matt Brase and Darius Morris Are Awarded Monthly Accolades

NEW YORK - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers' Darius Morris and Matt Brase named Player and Coach of the Month for February after leading the Vipers to a 6-2 record.

For the month of February, Darius Morris averaged 21.9 points, 7.5 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 1.8 steals. Morris scored over 25 points in four games in February. Darius collected a triple-double against Sioux Falls Skyforce on Feb. 10 with 19 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds in a 116-112. Morris also had an outstanding performance against the Texas Legends on Feb. 14. He hit a season-high six three pointers on his way to 26 points and added 14 assists and six rebounds in a 141-133 win.

For the 2016-17 season, Morris is averaging 20.3 points, 6.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals.

Matt Brase, in his second season with the Vipers, guided Rio Grande Valley to a 6-2 record for the month, with four wins coming on the road. RGV scored a league-best 120.6 points per game and had the second-highest net rating with 7.1 in February.

Before Brase led the Vipers to a 29-21 record during the 2015-16 season, he previously served as an assistant coach for the Vipers during the 2012-13 Championship season and rejoined Rio Grande Valley after two seasons as Director of Player Development for the Houston Rockets.

The Rio Grande Valley Vipers return to action on Monday, March 6 against the Long Island Nets at home. Tip-off is set at 7p.m.
