The Canton Charge (16-13), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, were defeated by the Grand Rapids Drive (15-16), 114-107, in front of 3,167 at the Memorial Civic Center on Friday night. Grand Rapids has taken all three matchups between the two division rivals so far this season with one more meeting to go.

Canton's Quinn Cook posted his third double-double of the year by netting a team-high 25 points with 11 assists, five boards and two steals in 40 minutes. Roosevelt Jones became the second Charge player to grab 20+ rebounds in a game this season with his 13 points, 20 rebounds and three steals in 41 minutes. Eric Moreland added 15 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, three steals and four blocks in 36 minutes. John Holland scored 28 points and grabbed seven boards in 40 minutes.

The Drive were led by Jordan Crawford's 28 points with six assists and three steals in 37 minutes. Kevin Murphy also poured in 28 points in 35 minutes for Grand Rapids. Henry Ellenson scored 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting with 12 rebounds and two blocks in 36 minutes on assignment from Detroit. Fellow Pistons assignment Michael Gbinije scored 14 points and grabbed five boards in 35 minutes.

The hosts raced out to a 38-26 lead after the first due to having the hot hand shooting, hitting 14-of-23 attempts (62%) from the field. Canton led by as many as 17 points in the opening quarter, with the starters scoring 36 of the 38 points and assisting on 10 of those 14 early field goals.

Grand Rapids turned up the defensive intensity in the second by forcing nine Charge turnovers that resulted in nine points. The Drive also held Canton to just 6-of-26 shooting (23%) in the second quarter, including 1-of-16 from outside the paint. After the Charge began the quarter on a 6-0 run for their largest lead of the game at 44-26, Grand Rapids closed out the half by outscoring Canton 28-11 to trail just 55-54 at intermission.

After no lead changes or ties through the first half, the third quarter saw four and five respectively as the two teams traded blows throughout. With the game tied 72-72 at the 5:59 mark, Grand Rapids scored nine straight points for their own largest lead of the game at 81-72. Canton fought back to chip away at the deficit, ending the third down 88-85 after Quinn Cook nailed a triple for the quarter's last bucket.

Grand Rapids held off Canton for the entire duration of the fourth quarter. The Charge got within two at 104-102 with 1:59 left in the game, but the Drive scored on five of their final six possessions of the game to hold on for the victory. Canton outscored Grand Rapids 64-46 in the paint, but the Drive won the turnover battle by forcing 21 for 22 points while surrendering 17 turnovers that resulted in 16 points.
