Erie, Pennsylvania - The BayHawks fell to the Raptors 905 111-113 after returning home from an eight-day West Coast trip this afternoon.
The 905 shot 68% compared to the BayHawks' 52% in the first to jump out to 39-27 lead. Raptors hit five out seven shots from three while Erie only knocked down one shot. Melvin Ejim found success under the basket for nine points and two assists. Scott Suggs went five of six for 15 points in the first.
The BayHawks and 905 traded baskets for much of the second quarter with the score closing 49-61 at half. Raptors had four players in double-digits going into half. Suggs posted 17 points while Branden Dawson led the BayHawks with 12 points. The 905 shot 63% from the field and 60% from three.
The BayHawks closed the gap and tied the game at 71 for the first time since the first minute of the game but the 905 pulled away again to 78-72 at the close of the third. Keith Appling had seven points in the quarter. Suggs continued his strong play with five points.
Raptors 905 seemed to pull away in the closing minutes of the fourth but Ejim and Harvey hit back-to-back three-pointers to pull it within three with 9.7 remaining. Suggs was fouled and knocked down the ensuing free throws to seal the victory for the 905.
Greg Smith and Bhullar both posted double-doubles for the 905. Bhullar had 21 points and 14 rebounds while Smith had 21 points and 12 rebounds. Suggs tallied a game-high 29 points on eight of 17 shooting from the field.
Ejim and Appling narrowly missed double-doubles. Ejim had 25 points and nine rebounds. Appling added 22 points and nine assists.
The BayHawks are back home Friday, March 4 at 7pm for Autism Awareness Night. Erie will take the court in specialty jerseys presented by the Siebenbuerger Club and will be auctioned to benefit the Autism Society of Northwest Pennsylvania. Tickets are available at eriebayhawks.com/autismawareness
