
Iowa Energy Fall 110-108 in Overtime in Delaware

Wilmington, DE - The Iowa Energy (7-4) fell 110-108 to the Delaware 87ers (7-6) Tuesday morning at the Bob Carpenter Center.
The Energy were led by Andrew Harrison with a team-high 21 points, one rebound and two assists. Alex Stepheson posted another double-double 17 points and 15 rebounds. Joel Wright and Lazeric Jones added 17 points. Sean Kilpatrick led the 87ers with 27 points and four rebounds.
The Energy got off to a fast start to begin the game. Iowa shot the ball well and quickly opened up a 15-point lead over the 87ers and went on to hold a 29-20 lead after the first quarter. Alex Stepheson led the Energy with seven first quarter points. Delaware was able to get the lead down to four points early in the second quarter. The Energy rallied and once again opened up a large lead and went on to hold a 61-56 halftime advantage. Stepheson increased his first half point total to 14 along with eight rebounds.
The Energy continued to control the game in the third quarter. Delaware was able to pull within two points of Iowa early in the third. Iowa once again responded and would open up another large lead behind four three-pointers in the quarter. The Energy led 87-81 heading into the fourth quarter. Delaware came back from nine down to tie the game 94-94 with 5:01 to play. It remained a close game down the stretch with both teams having the chance to take the lead in the closing seconds, but neither team could take the lead. For the third game in a row, the Energy were headed to overtime. In overtime, Delaware hit the go-ahead bucket with 1.7 seconds left to take a 110-108 lead. The Energy tried one last chance to tie it with a last second shot, but it was off the mark and the Energy fell to Delaware 110-108.
The Energy are back home this Friday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. Santa visits the game and it is Hoops For Troops Military Appreciation Night. The first 1,000 fans receive an Energy military T-shirt.
