Spurs Lose a Close One to Vipers

(CEDAR PARK, TEXAS - MAR. 26, 2015) - The Austin Spurs (31-15) fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (25-22) in a 114-109 contest Thursday night on the SWBC Court inside the Cedar Park Center. Rio Grande Valley's Glen Rice Jr. led the way (31 points, seven rebounds), while Orlando Johnson paced Austin's attack (26 points, five rebounds).
The Spurs were led by Jonathan Simmons (17 points, four rebounds), Jarell Eddie (14 points, four rebounds), and San Antonio assignee Kyle Anderson (11 points, six rebounds). Devondrick Walker scored a season-high 12 points on the night.
Austin started the first half strong, outscoring the Vipers 32-22 in the second quarter and taking a 57-45 lead at the half. Rio Grande Valley fought back in the second half, shooting 56.3 percent and out-scoring the Spurs 69-52 to claim the win.
Key players for Rio Grande Valley were Tony Bishop (24 points 15 rebounds), Jarvis Threatt (16 points, 8 assists) and Clint Capela ( 16 points 10 rebounds).
