
Vipers Fall in Overtime to Texas Legends 154-150

HIDALGO, Texas, March 25, 2015 - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (24-22) fell 154-150 to the Texas Legends (21-24) tonight in overtime at State Farm Arena. Tonight's overtime game was only the second time this season that the Vipers have gone into extra minutes this season. The Vipers won the season series 4-3 over the Legends.
Five RGV Vipers players scored double-doubles. Houston Rockets assignee Clint Capela led the team with a season-high 35 points and 15 rebounds. Glen Rice, Jr. added 21 points and 10 assists. Travis Bader contributed 18 points. Tony Bishop scored 17 points and 17 rebounds. Jarvis Threatt scored 15 points and 13 assists. Akil Mitchell tallied 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Eric Griffin led the Legends with 35 points. Dwight Powell scored a double-double 34 points and 10 rebounds. Justin Dentmon notched 26 points, followed by Mike James with 25 points and 15 assists. Jarrid Famous scored 19 points and 15 rebounds.
Each team battled for control throughout the game. The game tied a total of 19 times. Texas held its largest advantage of seven points, 32-25, with 3:18 on the clock in the first quarter. At the end of the first quarter, the scored was knotted at 43 points. The Vipers trailed 72-71 at halftime. The Legends led 109-108 at the end of the third, and the score was tied at 144 points at the end of regulation.
The Vipers hit the road tomorrow for a 7:30 p.m. (CT) contest at the Austin Spurs. RGV is back at home Saturday, March 28 when the team hosts the Austin Spurs at 1 p.m. (CT) at State Farm Arena. A tailgate party is scheduled for 11 a.m. in the arena's east parking lot.
